Tens of Thousands Evacuate in Eastern Philippines as Typhoon Approaches

Officials are urging2 people in the towns around the Mayon volcano in the Bicol area to flee3 their homes. They say Typhoon Mitag could create landslides down the volcano reaching4 nearby community. The huge ocean storm is moving west over the northwest Pacific with winds of more than 150 km/hour. It is expected to reach the eastern Philippines on Saturday or Sunday.
